CFQ

Objectives

The objectives of the course evaluation [Course Feedback Questionnaire (CFQ)] are:
  1. to provide teaching staff with student feedback on the teaching and learning effectiveness of the subject discipline so that improvement on teaching and learning quality can be made; and

  2. to serve as an indicative assessment of the teaching effectiveness of individual teaching staff.

The School of Continuing Education (SCE) highly values the course evaluation and pays due regard to the CFQ results.

教學評估計劃的目的有兩方面:一)讓教師得到學生對教與學上的回應,從而改善教與學素質;二)對個別教師的教學成效作指標性的評估。持續教育學院極其重視教學評估計劃,並會認真考慮評估結果。

Policy

At SCE, the following set of policy has been adopted:
  1. All teaching staff members, full-time or part-time, whether substantiated or otherwise, are required to participate in the course evaluation exercises conducted by the School for every course they teach (except Honours Projects, workshops, seminars, tutorials, laboratory and skill courses (except P.E. skill courses)).

  2. The course evaluation exercise is conducted during the last 2-3 weeks of classes for a period of two weeks.

  3. The course evaluation results are released on-line after receipt of all course grades by the respective Programme Boards. While Part I of the results are accessible to the Human Resources Section of the School / the Human Resources Office for re-appointment/promotion consideration, both Parts I and II of the results are returned to the respective teachers and are available to Heads/Director of Divisions/College or his/her designate and Dean for follow-up action. Aggregate results of Parts I and II are provided to the Quality Assurance Committee for monitoring purpose.

(There may be some outstanding grades at the time when the course evaluation results are released. The staff involved and other staff in the Division/College will not be able to view the results until the outstanding grades are submitted to the respective Programme Boards. To allow the Head and Dean to monitor the teaching performance, they are, however, provided with access to the course evaluation results of these courses with outstanding grades (except for the course(s) which are taught by the Head and Dean).

Remark: Given that the HKBU self-funded undergraduate (top-up) programmes are adjusted to a sole operation under SCE with effect from the academic year 2021/22 and that the SCE Administrative Support Unit (SCE ASU) coordinates the central administration services for the sub-degree providing units of the University including the Academy of Film (AF), the CFQ exercise of the self-funded undergraduate (top-up) programmes and the sub-degree programme(s) offered by AF is conducted by SCE.
